Welcome to Lennox Rods

All Lennox Rods meet a specific fishing challenge.

They are not designed, unlike many of our competitor’s rods, to meet just one criterion such as weight, casting action or length. And, they are certainly not designed just to find a place within a manufacturer’s catalogue and price range!

All Lennox Rods are 'travel' rods.

Alan Brown, their creator, was the first fly rod designer who set out to build, from scratch, a full collection of the highest quality travel rods that fitted into a suitcase, briefcase or car boot. At first, he did not know if it was possible to build a perfect 4 piece rod; by the end he believed no one ever had to buy a 2 piece rod again!

There are twenty rods in the Lennox range divided into 6 categories; each provides the optimum tools for any fly fishing challenges. The action of every blank has been specifically created to provide, we think, the perfect fishing rod in their class. Some are fast action so that experienced anglers can throw tight loops for greater distance and better wind penetration. These rods provide pin point accuracy and what we describe as 'authority'. In heavier line weights these rods will turn over heavy flies in strong winds.

Other rods load from tip to middle and are more adaptable to a wide variety of fishing conditions and to casting styles. They are perfect for delicate presentation of tiny flies without loss of accuracy or authority.

As importantly, the authority of Lennox Rods extends to their fish playing ability. There is no point in rod that casts well but cannot land big fish in awkward corners!

The Founder

Alan Brown built fishing rods in Hertfordshire for more than fifty years before his death in 2007.

He boasted that he left school as soon as he could to have more time to fish and to build rods. He was the youngest member of a group of local anglers, including Richard Walker and Peter Thomas, who led an angling revolution in Great Britain. They had become 'specialists'... obsessive, innovative anglers who cooperated on a quest to solve the problems of catching the biggest fish of several species. A whole generation of anglers followed them!
